Okay, so maybe I bought more than the three books I was going after last week. It's possible I somehow could have been persuaded to buy seven books. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened. I will take this opportunity to say that Laurell K. Hamilton has outdone herself with Swallowing Darkness. I could not put this book down--Not for crying children, a hungry husband or the tons of laundry that was multiplying and taking over the household. Granted, it only took me a couple of hours to read the book, but it was the most tense two hours of my life. No one writes action/fighting scenes better than Laurell. Period. The other books I bought were all good, but none lived up to Swallowing Darkness, so I won't mention them right now. Maybe later.
I've joined up with dozens of other authors to stress myself out during the holidays by participating in 70 Days of Sweat http://70daysofsweat.com/wordpress/ . The goal is for all of us to write between 60k-100k words (basically an entire book) in the next seventy days. I have a great need for this kick in the pants because I'm currently working on a Young Adult novel that I'd like to have finished by the end of December. Okay, I'd not just like to have it done by the end of December--I have to have it done by the end of December--because in January I have to start work on a story for a mystery anthology I'd like to submit to, which has to be finished by March. But it's all good because things will be suspended for the entire month of April. I've got three words to explain why: Romantic Times Convention. Nuff Said.
It seems like everyone is using the month of November to get caught up on their writing before the holidays hit. No one's blogging much, including me (sorry!). I have a list of blogs I follow pretty regularly, but does anyone have any suggestions for others I might enjoy?
