Yes, they were actually playing that song on the radio just now. Ahh, how it brings back memories. I figured I needed to blog since I'm getting random emails asking me why I haven't blogged in a while. Pushy people:-) I've thought about blogging. Really. It's just that so little has gone on since the New Year started I didn't figure it was worth mentioning. But I'll try to remember a few things for your nosy entertainment while I'm laying on the couch in my pj's, watching my kids play Lego Batman.
Word count this week has been pretty dismal. It's always hard getting back into the routine when the kids have been off school for a couple of weeks. I finally got some good work on a new mystery Thursday and Friday. The young adult book I've been working on, The Mark of Shadow, is on hold right now until I clear a few things from my plate. I have revisions for another book coming in the mail at the beginning of next week, so all my attention will be focused on that. It's exciting. (Yes, I did say that revisions are exciting. I love getting feedback and seeing where I've made mistakes, so hopefully I don't make the same ones the next time). As soon as revisions are finished and sent back, it's back to the rewrites of The Mark of Shadow. My goal is to be finished with it by Spring Break. My reward for finishing will be a couple of days spent in New Orleans. (Actually, I have an airline voucher I need to use by a certain date). The new mystery takes place in the Big Easy, so I need to do a little research, soak up the atmosphere and take a lot of pictures. With a new baby on the way, there's no telling when the new mystery will be finished, but my goal is September 1. That's about all I have planned out as far as "resolutions" for the New Year go.
The Entertainment Section
We saw Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler last night. The kids loved it, and we enjoyed it as well. An all new Bones starts this week, which as you all know is my favorite show ever, so don't call on Thursday nights. And as far as books go, I made my weekly trip to Barnes and Noble on Tuesday to pick up the new Janet Evanovich book, Plum Spooky. While I was there, I randomly picked an author off the shelf. I picked Cleo Coyle and the first book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series. And it was AWESOME. I read both of my buys that night and went back to B&N the next day to get a couple of more books. I finished those and went back the next day. You see the pattern here, right? It's a great series, and I'm glad I found it, even though my book budget is very much over the limit this month.
