I'm done.
There's been a reason you haven't heard a peep from me in so long. I was on the downhill slide of finishing my latest book. And as of 4:02am last Wednesday...It. Is. Finished. I had a lot of excess energy on my hands after finishing the book, so I watched the second episode of Castle and read for about eight minutes before finally zonking out. (If you haven't been watching Castle, btw, get on it. It's gooood stuff, and you can never go wrong with Nathan Fillion).
It's actually amazing that any writing got done last week, especially the last sixty pages of the book, because we were overcome with the stomach virus from hell at the house of Hodge. It wasn't a pretty week. But I did finish, and I've had feedback from a couple of readers, so I'll send it off to the agent and see what she has to say.
In the meantime, I'm going to spend the next two weeks vegging out and catching up on my reading. My brain is tired, and it's time for some relaxing. And there's no better place to do that than Austin, TX. We'll be going there this upcoming weekend. I'll post pictures if I can remember to take them.
And then next week is filled with all kinds of readerly goodness. My good pal Jaye Wells has her debut book, RED-HEADED STEPCHILD, coming out on Tuesday with much pomp and circumstance, so make sure you put it on your shopping list. Her booksigning is also next week, followed by the Dreamin' in Dallas Conference at the Radisson in Plano. Come join us Friday night at the booksigning, which is open to the public and free of charge. And yes, there will be a cash bar available. Lushes. It'll be a fun and wild week for sure.
After all the tomfoolery has commenced and we are chased out of the great city of Plano, I must come back to my humble abode and get back to work. I've got a young adult novel that is finished but needs a great deal of attention before I can do anything with it.
I need suggestions for books to read over the next two weeks. Load me up!
