As probably none of you know (with the exception of my husband because he's the one who has to deal with the carnage and whining), I am the conference coordinator for the Dreamin' in Dallas Conference set to take place in April of 2011. I'm SUPER excited, btw. Planning a conference can be stressful, mostly because you're dealing with other writers who, hmm....how can I put this delicately? Are eccentric at best. Neurotic at worst. Opinionated. High maintenance exhibitionists trapped in a wallflower's body. All of these things. But I'm allowed to say so because this describes me, too. But despite the stress, hours of emails, paperwork and putting out potential fires, it's also completely fun. It appeals to Type A personality. I GET to organize. I GET to file. And I GET to communicate with other writers and industry professionals and assure them they're going to have a great time in Dallas. We have AMAZING authors coming this year, and even if you're not a writer, you should come to the booksigning. Plan ahead, people. Put April 1, 2011 in your calendars.
